Cape Cod Hospital Swim/Run

This year’s Swim/Run honored Sharon Walsh, a local Hyannis resident who lost her battle with cancer in December 2003. The athletic fundraiser took place on July 11th in West Harwich and included a 1/2 mile swim, and a 3 mile run with a walk/wade component. Donors and sponsors rallied around some 65 athletes
raising over $99,000 setting a new record income, the proceeds of which were directed to the Davenport-Mugar Cancer Center.In addition, a listing of the fourteen volunteer events follows with income raised from each. The Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation is grateful to its volunteer committees and the individuals and businesses that contribute to the success of each of these events. We remain indebted to these hard working individuals and generous donors, and their ongoing commitment to quality health care on Cape Cod.

Visiting Nurse Association Golf Tournament

This year’s 23rd Annual VNA Golf Tournament at Woods Hole Golf Club on September 23rd had a remarkable net income exceeding $57,000. The 2004 proceeds benefited the Upper Cape VNA Children’s Fund. This program provides support and education for new moms and babies, care for uninsured mothers and their children, as well as assistance for families coping with chronically ill, terminally ill or disabled children.

Falmouth Hospital Summertime Gala “Soiree Under the Stars”

A perennial favorite event is the Falmouth Hospital Summertime Gala which was held July 31st, on the beautiful grounds of Bourne Farm. The event featured a cocktail party and gourmet hors d’oeuvres overlooking picturesque Crocker Pond, followed by a multi-course dinner and dancing. Over 300 guests were also invited to participate in a fabulous Silent Auction presented through generous gifts from Upper Cape Artists and businesses. The evening raised more than $93,000.
